 note = {P(論文), ソーシャルキャピタルは、理論的、実証的視点から研究できる。筆者は、伊勢崎織物業の歴史的発展を扱う研究でソーシャルキャピタルが地域経済にどのような影響を与えたかを分析した。そこでは、人々の相互の信頼関係、形成されたネットワークであるソーシャルキャピタルが、織物業発展をもたらしたこと、生産のあり方、経済環境によって形成されたソーシャルキャピタルの変化があることを実証した。しかし、思想的、宗教的要素がソーシャルキャピタルに与える効果について検証することができていなかった。
　本研究では、江戸時代後期に伊勢崎地域で発展した儒教と和算の学問と、郷学と私塾の形態で行われた地域教育の普及、そして人々のネットワークを実証した。さらに、それらが、近代社会の地域の指導者形成とネットワーク形成にどのように影響しているかを分析した。
　多くの儒学者、和算学者が伊勢崎地域で生み出されていた。学者達は、地域で学ぶだけでなく、江戸、長崎と広く見聞を広げて、優れた視野を持つ体験をしていた。学者は、郷学と呼ばれた藩に認められた庶民対象の教育機関で若い人々を教えるだけでなく、私塾でも教えていた。また、学者達は、広くネットワークを形成し、地域の文化を発展させていた。その社会環境と教育によって、地域の指導者になっていった人々は、倫理観と広い視野を発展させることができた。そのような倫理観と視野なくして、不確定な状況のなかで、社会的なネットワークを形成し、社会の豊かさを高めることは困難であった。明治期以降のネットワーク形成は、近世のネットワーク形成の伝統の下にある。
　地域の教育の伝統は、ソーシャルキャピタルの形成に大きな意義をもっていたと結論付けられる。, Social capital can be scrutinized both from theoretical and empirical perspectives. I have analyzed how social capital affected regional economies in my book dealing the economic history of Isesaki weaving industry. In my last analysis I have successfully shown that the volume of social capital could be changed due to the structure of regional economies. However, I have failed in finding the effect of ideological or religious elements towards social capital.
　In this article I scrutinize the regional tradition of education in the Edo period. In this area the education of confucianism and mathematics were popular among not only the governing class but also the governed classes.
　Many scholars developed own knowledge in the region and in other regions, then they taught young people in the quasi public schools or own private schools. Through such education, the leaders in this region could develop their own practical ethics and broad perspectives. Without those acquired skill and attitude the social network could not be originated under unprecedented and risky environment.
　Conclusively, the tradition of regional education contributed very much in the formation of social capital in the region.},
